2-Ingredient Pumpkin Donuts

I am going to come right out and say it – I love pumpkin recipes during the fall.

And regular donuts do take a lot of time to make so I thought, why not make something quick!

If you love fall baking but don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen, these 2-ingredient pumpkin donuts are your answer.

With just a box of cake mix and pumpkin puree, you can whip up soft, spiced donuts that taste like autumn in every bite.

They’re incredibly moist from the pumpkin, lightly sweet, and perfectly fluffy without needing eggs, butter, or oil.

They’re also baked instead of fried, making them lighter and easier to enjoy anytime.

Add a quick cinnamon sugar coating, and you’ve got donuts that feel bakery-worthy in under 30 minutes!

So, if you’re craving something sweet without much effort, or you’ve got a can of pumpkin puree this is the recipe to try.

(I have included variations and substitutes at the end of the recipe in case you want to make different variations)

Here are some tips to make it taste amazing.

  1. A donut pan makes these donuts perfectly shaped.
  2. Use a piping bag to easily fill the donut pan without mess.
  3. Swap spice cake mix with chocolate or yellow cake mix for a different twist.
  4. For extra indulgence, drizzle with melted chocolate or cream cheese glaze.

Now, let’s dive into the recipe!

Ingredients

  • 1 box (15 oz) spice cake mix (or vanilla cake mix if you prefer mild flavor)

  • 1 can (15 oz) pumpkin puree

  • Optional: Cinnamon sugar coating (1/2 cup sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon + 4 tbsp melted butter)

Directions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix and pumpkin puree.
  • Stir until smooth and fully blended—the batter will be thick. Spoon or pipe the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Let cool for 5 minutes, then brush with melted butter and roll in cinnamon sugar if desired. Serve warm and enjoy the soft, spiced goodness.

  • I personally love these for tea time. It goes great with some apple cinnamon tea!

Variations and Substitutes:

For healthier donuts, roll them in coconut sugar instead of regular sugar.
Turn them into muffins by baking in a muffin tin (same temp, add 2–3 minutes bake time).
Use gluten-free cake mix to make them gluten-friendly.
Add mini chocolate chips or chopped pecans to the batter for crunch.

This is also a great snack to make when you have surprise guests.

I hope you love these donuts as much as I do!
