Healthy Air-Fryer Sweet Potato Fries

My partner and I do a lot of workouts during the week. And he’s prepping for Ocean Man in 1 month

This gives me the opportunity to work on a lot of healthy recipes

Since Fall is approaching, I’ve already covered multiple fall recipes in the last few weeks. I’ll link to them below!

There’s nothing quite like crispy sweet potato fries straight out of the air fryer.

They’re golden on the outside, tender on the inside, and carry that natural sweetness that pairs beautifully with a sprinkle of salt or sesame seeds.

The best part? They’re so much healthier than traditional fried fries, and you can whip them up with just a few simple ingredients.

Whether you’re serving them as a side dish, snack, or even a game day appetizer, these fries are a total crowd-pleaser.

All you need is your good ol’ air fryer!

Please note I’m adding variations and substitutions after the recipe.

Let’s dive in!

Ingredients

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into fries

  • 1 ½ tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • Optional: sesame seeds for topping

Directions

  • Start by washing and peeling your sweet potatoes, then cutting them into evenly sized thin fries. Pat them dry with a kitchen towel—this step is key for crispiness.
  • Toss the fries in a bowl with olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper, making sure each piece is well coated. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Arrange the fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, being careful not to overcrowd them (you may need to cook in batches).
  • Air fry for 12–15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking to ensure they cook evenly.
  • The fries should come out crispy and slightly golden. Once done, sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

  • This is a fun treat to have even to satisfy evening cravings

Variations & Substitutions

Try swapping smoked paprika for chili powder if you want a spicier kick.

For a sweeter version, toss the fries in a little cinnamon and sugar before cooking. If you prefer oil-free fries, you can skip the olive oil, though they won’t be as crispy. For toppings, swap sesame seeds with parmesan or fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme.

Air fryer sweet potato fries are a perfect balance of healthy and indulgent, giving you that crunchy satisfaction without the heavy grease of deep frying. Once you try them, they’ll likely become your new go-to side dish for burgers, sandwiches, or just a quick snack.
